According to literature the zodiac word means a special belt, which is located in a celestial sphere in the plain of ecliptic. The Sun is in an area of such a belt, which within one year turns by 360 degrees. Such a full angle was divided into twelve equal parts. Therefore, in today's world it is said that there are twelve zodiac signs. An exact date of accessing the Sun into individual constellations is of course dependent on the time. Scientifically including, it is an effect of so-called Earth's rotation.

Twelve sign of the zodiac are distinguished: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. It is possible also to distinguish a thirteenth sign of the zodiac i.e. Ophiuchus, but in the everyday life it isn't applied. It occurs because, in fact, on the plain exists not twelve, but thirteen constellations, and therefore it is possible also to distinguish this additional zodiac sign.

All most popular horoscopes are based on the zodiac sign, since only from such it is just possible to predict the future for individual persons. As previously mentioned, the zodiac was divided into twelve parts, which are derived from the names of animals. Similarly as in Chinese horoscope, however there are different signs and have a completely different meaning.
